Joseph Valentin, known to the global house community as Seph & Dreamer's Dub, is the founder and creative engine behind Republic Music. A native of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, his perspective was shaped by the raw energy of New York’s mid-80s underground—a time when the city’s vibrant garage, soul, and early electronic scenes began to coalesce into the house movement. As a collector, historian, and archivist, Valentin has spent over three decades not just witnessing this evolution, but actively steering it, ensuring the true underground sound remains a living, breathing force.

His trajectory from the dancefloors of NYC’s first house clubs to founding the Funky Soul Rebels collective in 1994 reflects a career built on community and authenticity. After years of hosting seminal Brooklyn events and touring internationally, Joseph’s focus transitioned into the studio, leading to long-standing partnerships with Steven Garcia and DJ Ino. Today, whether producing dubbed-out textures as Dreamer's Dub or collaborating with Joeski as Valentin, Joseph remains dedicated to the high-fidelity standards that define his label. Republic Music is the culmination of this lifelong journey—a platform designed to protect the soulful, technical integrity of house music for a new generation of listeners.
