"The Roots" brings together a collection of tracks that, in one way or another, are part of the recognizable story of House Café Music, a Spanish label from the 1990s and early 2000s. We have always considered the label to be the home of artists devoted to House music with a distinctly Deep sound.
House Café Music has served as a source of inspiration for many artists within the underground scene of that era, and its tracks were played in some of the most sophisticated clubs of the time. Artists such as Charles Webster — for whom we have always had deep respect — and Vincenzo, head figure of Dessous Recordings, have been standout remixers for the label during its active years.
Tête de la Course was hailed as a prodigy of Spanish Deep House, with tracks like “Before Sunrise” and “Before Sunset” . Others, such as Astroboyz, a master of refined electronic sound, contributed gems like “Good to Go”, turning his track into a true sonic journey. The German Boris Hotton and New Yorker Steven Garcia were vital members of the label for their remarkable production talent.
DJ Ino, the soul and driving force behind House Café Music, made important contributions with his distinctive sound and early-career highlights. Tracks like “Take Control” were even nominated as Best Track of the Year at the time.
