It's another sweltering summer, and Republic returns with a batch of breezy tunes that are cooler than homemade ice cream - though they'll definitely have dancefloors heating up wherever DJs drop them. No stranger to hot weather himself, Lisbon producer and selector 4 Da People (AKA Mikie Wilde), known for releases on labels like Ospina and Epoque, makes a timely first appearance in Republic's lineup.
On the Catch Da Bass EP 4DP departs from his usual Balearic and deep House with an EP of loose and fun but powerful funky jams marked by crisp drums, rubbery basslines, and deceptively simple arrangements that lure the listener into surprising depths. Reminiscent of the disco-fried tech-house of Joshua "Iz", with a touch of Planet E future soul, these are some warped but tuneful and accessible grooves aimed right at peak time.
